Landscaping in Reno's High-Desert Climate

Reno sits at roughly 4,500 feet elevation in a high-desert basin, which creates landscaping conditions unlike almost anywhere else in the West. Hot, dry summers push irrigation systems hard. Winter temperatures regularly dip below freezing, stressing turf and ornamentals. And the area's alkaline soils and low annual rainfall — around 7 inches — mean that what works in Sacramento or Portland won't necessarily work here.

We've been maintaining and installing landscapes in Reno since 1994, which means we know this climate from experience, not textbooks. We know when to adjust irrigation schedules as the seasons shift, which turf varieties hold up through a Reno summer, and how to prepare sprinkler systems for the freeze-thaw cycles that come with fall and spring.

Summer Heat Management

Reno summers are intense — high UV, low humidity, and temperatures that can exceed 100°F. Proper irrigation scheduling and drought-tolerant plant selection keep properties healthy without waste.

Water-Smart Irrigation

With TMWA restrictions and high summer evapotranspiration rates, efficient irrigation is a priority. We design, install, and service systems that deliver water where it's needed.

Winter Preparation

Reno winters require sprinkler system winterization, turf preparation, and — when the storms roll in — reliable snow removal to keep driveways and walkways safe.
