Preventative Action

Preventing frozen pipes

If you haven’t done so already, drain the water from swimming pools and sprinkler lines. Do NOT put any type of antifreeze in these lines unless directed to. Remove drain and store hoses used outdoors. Close inside valves supplying outdoor hose bibs. Open the outside hose bibs to allow water to drain. Keep the outside valve open so that any water remaining in the pipe can expand without causing the pipes to break. Check around your home for any other areas that have water supply lines. A hot water line can freeze just as a cold line can if the water is not running. Consider having our company install pipe sleeves. Pipes should be carefully wrapped to prevent damage and to ensure proper installation.
